Oakley was founded by Jim Jannard in 1975 in California, USA. Like so many other Jannard started the company out of his own garage and it was with a motorcycle handle Oakley's success story began. "The Oakley Grip" called Jannard its innovative handle and he began selling his invention at various motocross events from the trunk of his car. Further, Oakley began to produce number plates, gloves, elbow pads and protective glasses for BMX and motocross. 1980 Oakley released a pair of goggles called O-Frame with Oakleylogotypen nicely positioned on the belt. Professional drivers like Mark Barnett, Marty Smith, Johnny O'Mara, and Jeff Ward used the O-Framegoggles and thus started the brand Oakley get more attention and recognition. Decades of Oakley innovation latter has more than 600 patents worldwide, and their brand is widely known for providing products that challenge the norm without compromising on design and performance.
